Church Stretton Tree Group

Church Stretton Tree Group was established in 2008 to champion the magnificent trees in Church Stretton. The impetus for its formation was the publication of the Town Design Statement which emphasises the importance of tree cover to the essential character of the town and surrounding area.

Our aims are to

* oversee and implement the Town Design Statement Tree Guidelines and Recommendations

* provide monitoring and support to protect valued trees

* work with Local Authorities and others to ensure the protection of important trees and woodland

* encourage new planting using appropriate species

* raise awareness of the importance of trees and woodland

* encourage a culture of tree care

* provide good quality tree advice

* involve the whole community in activities based on trees

Nature in the Strettons

On 28th February 2023 a new initiative “Nature in the Strettons” was launched. The intention is to make finding all the many different groups involved with Nature and Wildlife in the Church Stretton area easier. A new website to coordinate news and events and links to the websites of the different groups can be found at https://natureinthestrettons.org.uk/

As part of this initiative a Nature in the Strettons exhibition of photographs highlighting the threatened species and habitats in the Strettons will be at the Health and Wellbeing Centre in Easthope Road, Church Stretton, SY6 6BL, until 31st March 2023.
